There is nothing better than spending some time in nature, just relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors. As pleasant as it is, there are still alarming outdoor pests you need to look out for. Some bugs can be extremely annoying, while others can even be dangerous.
Preparing beforehand will make things later much easier. You can always use different repellents and numerous types of protective wear, to have a trouble-free experience. However, why not enjoy the free time the way you want?
Garden Insects and Their Bites
When you are going outdoors in the summer, there are numerous different bugs that you can cross paths with. Especially here, in Australia, where we have somewhat of a bad reputation because of the numerous deadly animals inhabiting our home.
Ticks
Those little outdoor inhabitants can be quite dangerous. Most cities spray insecticides on public parks to keep the problem under control. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take your own measures against them.
Ticks range anywhere from the size of a pinhead to as big as a fingernail. It’s impossible not to feel if one bites you. Often it’s fairly painful. Unlike mosquitoes which feed with blood as well, ticks may stay attached to the human body for as long as 10 days before falling off.
It’s always a good idea to visit a doctor to remove it, and it’s best to be done as soon as possible. Ticks grow when they are inside a host, which means that it can be harder to remove. Also, for sanitary reasons, it’s best to let a professional do it.
Ticks usually seek warm and moist places on the human body. If one finds itself on your body, it will likely go to the armpits, in your hair or groins. We suggest you inspect yourself once you get home after a day spent in the outdoors.

Mosquitoes
Being dubbed the deadliest animal in the world, the mosquito is one of the most annoying insects that you will encounter outdoors.
This flying creature has killed more people than any other animal. To this day, mosquitoes carry a host of different diseases that can be transmitted to the human body through a bite. We suggest you protect yourself from mosquitoes by using repellents. It’s also a great idea to keep an eye on the bites as they can become infected, especially on those who are allergic.

Ants
Ants are the little warriors of the animal world. The little crawlies are everywhere, and often you will meet them if you are going out for a picnic.
Although most of them aren’t deadly, Australia is home to many dangerous species. You can use natural remedies to repel these little pests.

We suggest using peppermint oil to keep ants at bay. It’s also an extra that it smells amazing!

Spiders
Spiders may be the least understood creatures. Yes, they are creepy and scary, but oftentimes they are harmless to humans. That is unless you provoke one that is venomous (sometimes that means you move your hand the wrong way).
You must stay alert for them because a single bite from the wrong species might lead to you getting hospitalised. To keep them at bay when outdoor, you can use peppermint. That way, you will protect yourself both from spiders and ants.
Examples of Spider Bites
Spider bites can be a lot more dangerous, and those pictured above are mild, or early-stage reactions. We suggest you always seek medical assistance if you know the spider is a venomous species.
Flies
They are most likely not dangerous, but flies are exceptionally annoying. The little flying creatures can ruin the whole outdoor experience and because of that should be kept away if you want a nice ordeal.
It’s like flies have a habit of landing on food and crawling on it. By the end of it, you may be considering to bring a pet frog with you.
That’s why if you want to keep them away, you can use lavender or peppermint. If you want something that can do the job better, then you can take a look at stronger insecticide sprays, though we don’t recommend it over-do to you with any insecticides.
